Château de La Haye
Château La Haye, once the scene of the secret love of Henri II and Diane de Poitiers, was a Sleeping Beauty until it was acquired by the Flemish entrepreneur Chris Cardon in 2012. Thanks to heavy investment, it now ranks among the (Belgian) jewels of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. The vineyard has a total of 11 hectares of old vines on clayey marl. It adopts reasoned winemaking methods. The owner is supported by winemaking advice from Eric Boissenot (who now advises the Chenoy vineyard in Belgium) and Marc Quertinier.
Blanc de La Haye
Among the quaffable wines of Château La Haye, our favourite is this organic white with aromas of white-fleshed fruit. It is the result of a partnership, established as soon as the vineyard was bought, with a winemaker from the Entre-Deux-Mers region who follows precise vinification specifications.
Vinification in thermo-regulated tanks. Skin maceration. Matured on fine lees for three to four months. Slight filtration before bottling.
Golden robe with tints of green.
Attractive nose with ripe fruits.
Round and fresh in the mouth, with fine aromatic persistence. Hint of minerality.
Scallop carpaccio, salmon tartare, Asian dishes, fresh goat's cheese.
8-10°C
