Wijndomein Entre-Deux-Monts

Right at the very tip of Belgium, where the Flemish and the French rub shoulders and the slopes dream of being mountains, lies the spot where Martin Bacquaert has his roots and produces elegant, thoroughbred wines. His domain is called Entre-Deux-Monts – between two mountains – logically enough, since it nestles between Mont Rouge and Mont Noir, both firmly anchored on the French-Belgian border. Entre-Deux-Monts covers now eighteen hectares planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Auxerrois, Kerner (Riesling family) and Siegerrebe (Gewürztraminer family). In 2018, Martin Bacquaert planted new Acolon vines.

Pinot "La Douve"

Martin has renamed his Pinot "La Douve" in reference to the Douve valley, a 63-hectare nature reserve on the heights of which are planted the plots used to make this cuvée. They are also not far from one of the sources of the river Douve which, in several places, traces the border between Belgium and France. 

Gentle pressing with pneumatic press. Fermentation at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks. Five months of ageing on fine lees in stainless steel tanks with stirring. Fining with bentonite (vegan friendly).

   Pale yellow robe. Lovely brightness.

   Nose dominated by aromas of peach, pear, apricot, yellow flowers, with a mineral touch.

   Fairly supple in the attack phase, very good aromatic persistence, well controlled acidity, slightly saline finish.

   Fish in sauce or white meats, as preferred.
