Château de Durette
Jean Joly from Liège (Wallonia) fell in love with the Beaujolais region. The story goes that he took his young wife to Saint-Amour for their honeymoon in 1964 and was carried away by this land, often unjustly disparaged. In 2007, he bought a vineyard in the village of Régnié-Durette, which he renamed Château de Durette. The originality of his plan is that in a sort of cooperative spirit, good friends acquired plots of vines of different Bordeaux vintages and signed tenant farming contracts with the Château de Durette, which thus has a vineyard covering 30 hectares. They include another native of Liège, Marc Theissen, who is in charge of the day-to-day management and marketing of the estate’s wines. When Jean Joly passed away in 2014, the vineyard remained within the family. It adopts a reasoned agriculture approach.
Cuvée Blanc Prestige
It is somewhat unexpected to discover a Beaujolais born of the Chardonnay variety in the land of the Gamay, but it’s a very, very pleasant surprise and is sure to astonish your wine-loving friends!
The juice underwent short skin maceration (three hours) before being pressed. The alcoholic and malolactic fermentations were carried out in casks with regular batonnage of the lees. Maturing on lees in new casks (eight months) lends this "Cuvée Prestige" a full-bodied structure and a fine roundness.
Clear, brilliant robe.
Fruity nose, with hints of white flowers (hawthorn, acacia) and vanilla.
Full structure, supple in the mouth, perfect acidity. Mineral hint at the finish.
Morels in puff pastry or sautéed veal Marengo. Pairs quite well with a Crottin de Chavignol cheese at the end of a meal.
