Château Famaey
The estate was acquired in 2000 by two Flemish businessmen, Luc Luyckx and Marc Van Antwerpen, both of whom love Cahors wines, and was renamed Château Famaey. For the record, Famaey is the maiden name of Luc's wife, the driving force behind the international recognition of the estate. Since 2007, Maarten Luyckx, Luc's son, has been in charge of the vinification and development of this family business.
Château Famaey has 40 hectares of vines spread over different terraces in the Lot Valley, in the heart of the Cahors appellation. On this exceptional terroir of clay and gravel, Maarten makes strict plot selections for his numerous cuvées. The wines of Château Famaey are regularly awarded high marks in the specialist press.
