Domaine Constant-Duquesnoy
Unlike many Belgian neo-winegrowers, Gérard Constant did not fall for an attractive building - in other words, for land - but began by investing in the purchase of 12 hectares of vines located in Vinsobres, in the Drôme Provençale, some thirty kilometres north of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Not just any vines, by the way: those of Domaine Les Ausellons, considered in its time by Parker as "one of the three best properties" of the appellation. Since then, Gérard Constant has also acquired parcels in the Cairanne appellation.
Lou Combaou
The average age of the Grenache and Syrah vines that make up this cuvée is about 35 years. The vineyard is planted on terraces, between 250 and 300 metres above sea level, on a terroir of limestone and rolled pebbles. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand, with a severe sorting. Fermentation lasted 4 weeks in temperature-controlled vats and the wine was aged for 10 months in stainless steel vats.
