Domein Cuvelier
Yves and Patrick Cuvelier grew up with apples and pears (thanks to their fruit-growing parents) and fell in love with... grapes. In 2000, as if to mark a different turning point than that of the century, they planted their first Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines in Borgloon - which has now become the epicentre of Limburg's viticulture. Patrick is in charge of the vineyards while Yves is in charge of the vinification. The latter's partner, Miet, is in charge of the creative side of the business and her abstract and colourful labels are to be commended! The Domein Cuvelier has gradually grown to 2.5 hectares (which is still modest) and 12,500 vines. Pinot Meunier and Grüner Veltliner (which they were the first to plant in Belgium), among others, have been added to the original grape varieties. The majority of the production is for sparkling wines, but the estate also produces several still wines.
